Three specimens of this bench were put up in the park beside Städtische Galerie in Viersen.

Erwin Heerich has developed these benches for their particular position. On the one hand they should be items of practical use and on the other hand, being sculptures, they should maintain their independent place in the sculpture collection in Viersen.

In contrast to the usual furnishing of lawns Heerich falls back on a classical form of bench. It equally articulates its sculptural qualities entirely and having neither arm nor back, and in spite of its onesided orientating towards use the bench maintains spatial and physical independence. The user is included in this sculptural conceptions.
